DFW Flex User Group Would Like To Meet Us!D-Flex Presentation Will Introduce Tools for using Flex with PHPThe DFW Adobe Flex Users Group would like to invite the DallasPHP members to attend a meeting demonstrating some tools enabling FLEX PHP development. The session will cover an approach for remoting, data management and real-time messaging (push, streaming, RSO) for integration between Flex and a variety of backend environments including Java, .NET, PHP and ColdFusion. You will learn about code generation techniques and how to apply the generated code to solve every day programming problems when developing with Flex. (Note: this is not a sales presentation, as the tools reviewed are absolutely free of charge) August 21, 2008 CHECK IN AT THE SECURITY OFFICE IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT BUILDING! PARK IN LOTS M OR J This is extremely fortuitous timing! During DallasPHP's October 14th meeting, Adobe Tech Evangelist Danny Dura plans to cover a specific implementation using Flex with the Zend Framework. I strongly advise any DallasPHP member who is interested in Flex to attend this D-Flex meeting to help familiarize yourself with the technology so that we can take full advantage of the opportunity to dig even deeper in October! September '08: Security and Hardening TacticsMaking Your Server and Your Code SecureIn September, Jason Ragsdale will be talking Security: From simple programming steps and best practices to some of the more extreme measures you can take to protect your server. Come join us, and sleep well at night. The September Meeting will be held in our favorite location on September 9, 2008:The Riverwalk Conference Room in the Offices at Yahoo! 1680 Glenville Drive OCTOBER SPECIAL EVENT: ADOBE IS COMING!We have made special arrangements with Adobe to hold a very special presentation event for our October 14th meeting: "The presentation will be an introduction to the Zend Framework and Adobe Flex. Danny Dura will be presenting - he's on our technical evangelism team and is super technical. He'll go into building a Flex application that communicates to a Zend Framework powered PHP application using REST and AMF. The Flex application will run in the browser using the Flash Player, and on the desktop using Adobe AIR." There will be excitement! There will be Adventure! There will be SWAG! Because of all this, we expect attendance to be high, possibly so high that we may have to move October's meetings to another venue - an arrangement that will need to be made soon. To that end, we have set up a few questions and we BEG you to visit them, answer the questions and provide us some guidance so that we can take appropriate measures to most effectively serve our members and see this spectacular event go off without a hitch!PLEASE ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS FOR US!CALL FOR SPEAKERS!Tulsa TechFest 2008 is looking for PHP Speakers!by David WalkerHello DallasPHP/MySQL Group! I am looking for speakers for our third annual Tulsa TechFest 2008! "Get Your Geek On". You may not be aware the success and turnout accomplished on October 19th and 20th, 2007. We had 660+ attendees on Fri, Oct 19th, 2007 and 460+ on Sat, Oct 20th, 2007. Since the attendance was so high on Friday, we're having this year's event on Thu, Oct 9th and Fri, Oct 10th. It is a non-profit free event run by volunteers. This year I am working really hard to add a "Designer" track and Ruby and Python, as well as, bringing back the PHP and Java tracks. You can still find all the details on last year's event at http://www.tulsatechfest.com . I plan to launch the new site in just a few days. We already have Microsoft, Oracle and several local companies as sponsors. Let me know if you have any questions, etc. Thanks!
